Why won’t my HEIC files open?

HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the format Apple devices use by default since iOS 11. It stores high quality photos at about half the file size of JPG.

The catch: many Windows apps, older Android phones, and a lot of websites and email clients still can’t open HEIC. Converting to JPG fixes that instantly because JPG is supported almost everywhere.

How this converter works

Drop one or more .heic files above. Your browser decodes them and re-encodes them as JPG using on-device processing — no server, no upload, no waiting in a queue.

Because the work happens on your machine, there are no file-size caps from us and your images stay completely private.

Frequently asked questions

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. Conversion happens entirely inside your browser. Your files never touch a server, which makes this both faster and fully private.

Is there a limit on how many files I can convert?

No. Convert as many HEIC files as you like, free, with no watermark and no sign-up.

Will I lose quality converting HEIC to JPG?

JPG uses lossy compression, but we export at high quality (around 92%), so the difference is visually negligible for everyday photos.
